If you’re looking for a movie that is pretty much just there for you to watch and laugh I highly recommend this movie. While it doesn’t have very much substance, there are places where I can’t help bursting out laughing. It’s tailored to teens so don’t expect a great story, just sit back and have some fun.

Culture Notes
They travel to 제주도 which is a very popular island where many people go for vacationing, like for a honeymoon. I’ve heard it called Korea’s Hawaii. The Koreans that live on the island also have a special dialect which is much different than anything else on the Korean peninsula. I have heard that Koreans outside of 제주도 have a hard time understanding that particular dialect.

Hey Matt,
I found your blog a while back and it’s pretty interesting.
You are (or we are) some of the rarer people here, who actually try to learn Korean.
Anyway, just a couple of questions:
1.I am just wondering why are you studying Korean (business/personal/etc)?
(personally, I found it pretty interesting as a hobby)
2. What materials do you use to study Korean?
I personally use “Integrated Korean”, but I need something for grammar and more vocab.
I tried to find the “6000 Korean Vocabularies” that you mentioned on Amazon, but couldn’t find it.
Does it have an ISBN number?
What would you recommend for grammar?
Thx a lot.
Keep up the good work.
Mike
P.S. I really appreciate the fact that you post 단어 and other materials on your blog.
Mike,
I’m glad you find my blog interesting. Yeah, I love studying Korean.
1. All of the above ㅋㅋㅋ. The base reason is that I love Korea (I think that is the most important thing). I watch and listen to a lot of Korean media (more than U.S. stuff) and love making Korean friends so there’s personal reasons. I also hope to use it in the future for business, I think it’s a rare skill so I’m trying to develop it.
2. Yes, I love Integrated Korean (the KLEAR ones I think), I’ve used those. I also highly suggest the 6000 book, but it is really just 단어 (no 문화). You can buy it for cheap from hanbooks.com. Another book I really like is the Handbook of Korean Vocabulary (by the same people who did the integrated series). It gives the chinese roots which really help me increase my vocabulary more than just learning individual words. There’s also another book I think called elementary korean might be good for grammar.
