To give you some background, according to the OECD 2008 statistics Korea ranked number one in terms of percentage of Internet-subscribing homes which were broadband and number three in download speed.

It looks like Korea is upgrading it’s already super high-tech Internet structure once again.  ₩34 trillion will be invested by multiple sources in order to improve the available infrastructure to provide Korean citizens with up to 1 Gbps wired and 10 Mbps wireless Internet speeds.  As a reference, you can download a 120 minute movie (high definition) in 12 seconds flat.  This should help users cope with the new bandwidth-hogging IPTV (internet-powered TV) standard that started last Thursday.  For those outside of the major cities, they will have to settle with “just” 50 ~ 100 Mbps download speeds.

OK, where do I sign up?
