I got the greenlight from my boss to work remotely in Korea! That was really the only thing that might have delayed my trip to Korea. I also called my old school, BYU, to see if I could book a plane ticket for cheap from their travel office (BYU students and LDS missionaries travel a LOT, so they get great discounts). I reserved a one-way ticket for a flight to Korea on Korean Air/Delta for $499 on December 29. I gotta say, that’s way cheaper than I thought it was going to be. I have to confirm that by tomorrow afternoon, which right now I think I’m gonna do. The ONLY thing left to do is make sure I can get my visa in time. I should get my acceptance packet in early to mid december, so I won’t be able to send in for my D-2 visa until I get that. When I called the Korean consulate in San Francisco they told me it would be about two to three days for processing. Hopefully they’re right …
Congrats on almost getting here
From everything I’ve heard that’s a GREAT price… Too bad that’s not available outside of a legitimate BYU connection…
Two or three days sounds about right – heck most E-2 visa are done overnight. Just check in when it gets to be close – things will work out
@Chris in South Korea
Thanks! It looks like I’m going to get my ticket tomorrow. I just have to confirm when SNU will send me my acceptance letter, which is the only possible thing that would hold me back. I fly to Michigan December 19, so it’ll have to come before that so I can submit the visa application. I’ll probably call their office today to figure that out. Almost! So close!
Amazing site you have,….been browsing it since I found it this morning xD
I’m also going to Korea on 8th of February as an exchange student.
Still a lot to arrange T_T.
Was wondering if you had any problems entering Korea with a one way ticket… heard noices here and there that you could run into problems with a ticket like that…
I’ll be flying from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Frankfurt (Germany), Beijing (China) and then Korea… on a D-2 Visum I’ll be getting this week.

@Frox
I don’t think so, I’ve already got my visa. I’ll be entering Korea on the 29th, so I’ll probably post my experience. Good luck! I’ve still got quite a bit of things to do also ><
I know people who entered with a one-way ticket with no problem at all. Honestly… it’s better to do it that way because sometimes you may change your return date. With a one-way ticket you won’t have to worry about that like I did… and wasted $700… :/
