Want to meet in Korea?

November 30th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

I’ve gotten all the confirmations I was looking for and will go ahead and buy my ticket tomorrow!  It looks like I’ll be arriving in Korea on December 30!

Now, I have to start gathering contact information for my friends and people I want to meet in Korea.  I’ve got two months of free time, so I’d love to meet everyone I can!  If you’re a reader who’ll be in Korea during January or February and want to meet me and have some fun then friend me on Facebook, Cyworld, or on Twitter and send me a message with your contact info (like a phone number and what city/neighborhood you live in).  Since I’ll be traveling around the country and staying in random places, I wouldn’t say no to a floor for the night either =).  I’ll make sure to compensate with paying for a good meal or something.

    Totally unrelated, but does SNU have any kind of a buddy program to help get students situated? I heard KU’s is poor. KNU’s was really good, and SCH had a completely different system.

    @qklilx
    I know they have some sort of buddy program, but I don’t really know anything about it.

    I got my confirmation to SNU! Finally! Will be adding you on Twitter/FB, though I think I’ll only be flying in after Lunar New Year.

    KU’s buddy system was pretty active (both of them – one for 어학당 students and one for exchange students) and always seemed to be having great fun to me . . .My “doumi” and I got along like peas and carrots, but not everybody gets along with who they’re partnered to. I suspect its the same in any program.

    Maybe it’s different now… my friend is there right now and he said all the international students were divided into groups (I might be wrong about that). The thing I’m sure about is that the buddies are sort of “handed out” in a sense, so there are fewer buddies than internationals and you have to share them. Apparently they all kind of drifted apart pretty fast.

    I know I’ll be getting tutors when I’m there, but I wonder if I’ll get buddies?…
