Seoul National University Student Clubs

Here’s a video I shot today to show you what the clubs in SNU are like.  Clubs are a lot more integrated in the school it seems than back in the USA where they usually seem very separated or non existent.  I have really enjoyed being a part of the SCSC club (SNU Computer Study Club) and look forward to a great year and good friends ^^  If you go to university here in Korea definitely check out the clubs as they are a much more important part of the social experience here.  Plus you get to meet a bunch of great people with similar interests as you!  Anyways, here’s the video:

Shillim Market

On Sunday I was meandering around a little bit (I like to explore everywhere I can) and I happened to come across a really neat little market I never knew existed.

You can see where the market is shown in green directly west of Daehag-dong (대학동)

Here are the two videos.  It might be boring if you’ve already been to a market but I decided to just keep all the video for those out of Korea who might be interested in seeing it.  Enjoy!

Reference to Korean educational system in Sunday’s Simpsons episode

Here’s a dialog from Sunday’s Simpsons episode referencing Korea’s educational system:

Principle Skinner: These are Bart’s uncompleted homework assignments for the last month.  Worksheets, problem sets, book reports, math jumbles, dioramas, topic sentences, conclusions, bibliographies, synonyms, mean the sames, ??, and one thanksgiving hand turkey!

Marge: One month? That’s a heavy load for a fourth grader…

Homer: I say this boy needs more homework!  I don’t have to do it with him do I?

Skinner: No…

Homer: Pile it on! I want him to be Korean by the time he’s done!
