Former South Korean president Kim Dae-Jung died today due to heart failure. He’s credited with doing a lot of work for reunification and democracy. His work with North Korea has helped earn him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000.

I’m glad to finally see an article clearing up the news from a month ago. The Korean Herald has a piece up with the real story (hopefully unlike the previous article). I don’t even know where to start on how or why the original news article contained completely false information (including quotes from the victim who reportedly didn’t talk to any reporters or bloggers). I really hope whoever created that original news piece is dealt with, it really is an embarrassment to his company, the Chosun Ilbo.

According to the BBC, Kim Jung-Il has pardoned the two American journalists. They will reportedly fly back to the USA with Bill Clinton. Read more from the Associated Press.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens here. The last visit was with another former president, Carter, with Kim Il-Sung which ended successfully (on the surface).
