I was going home and saw a ton of people on the SNU campus so I decided to check it out. I guess today was the graduation ceremony which meant there were a ton of people on campus. Not only were there a lot of happy graduates and their proud parents, there were almost just as many photographers, flower sales people, and food venders. I’ve never seen anything quite like it! Sadly I didn’t have my camera with me. I did have my phone though and took the one pick above. Who would’ve thought the android mascot (with a SK logo) would be parading around the SNU campus after the graduation ceremony?
While I was watching some DPRK TV (yeah … really exhilarating, I know. I hope that’s not illegal here … if it is, I heard it from a friend ) I noticed something interesting during the weather report. When they were talking about weather they never shows a division between North and South Korea. Here’s one pic:
On the same news broadcast I saw the news report showing video of the kids being given “gifts of love” from Kim Jong-Il (not in person). They were flying around in a helicopter which doesn’t seem like the most efficient way to do it (though I guess it makes good press).
Another random observation, you know all those North Korean posters? Well, each broadcast includes a few of those kinds of phrases (usually praising Kim Jong-Il). Yeah, right in the middle of the news.
I would love to just be able to see On My Way To Korea on the list of possible best blogs at 10 Magazine. Go over here and nominate my blog! If I get three nominations I’ll be added. I know I won’t win (my blog kind of goes all over the place and the content on the other sites has a lot more meat) but it would make my day =)
EDIT: I’d love to be able to prove I have three readers lol. I’m getting between 150~200 hits a day, there’s got to be three people in there that would love to go over and copy the following into other :
