On My Way To Korea

I’ve been a lover of bibimbap for a LONG time.  Ever since I had my first bowl, I drool at just the thought of having it!  It wasn’t until recently that I had raw tuna bibimbab though.  To tell you the truth, I hated raw fish the first time I had sashimi.  If you must know, I was quite the picky eater growing up.  I hated tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and just about everything in between.  I only ate my burgers plain (bun, meat and cheese) and never used ketchup with my fries.  Yeah, I must have been crazy.  Well, I finally decided to exorcise my palate when I lived in Canada and learned to love everything under the sun (yes, even *gasp* ketchup).  For those who have never been to Canada, sorry, the ketchup is much better there.

Even my favorite sushi isn’t usually of the raw fish variety (BBQ eel, California, dragon, spider, etc.), but BOY HOWDY that raw tuna bibimbap was good.  Man, I’ve got to tell you that if you like bibimbap, you absolutely have to try this one.  It’s a great combination of the usual great bibimbap taste with a zing of raw fish and (optionally) fish eggs.  Sorry, I don’t know if it’s really called ‘raw fish bibimbap’, but I do know it’s called 회덮밥 (hoedeopbap).  Go try it, you won’t regret it!
