Alliance with the Korean Wiki Project

I have decided to merge my efforts with Chris over at the Korean Wiki Project in order to collaborate and create the best resource online for the Korean language.  He’s done some great stuff and I hope that together we can make it the best Korean resource.  Right now we are in the preparation stage, creating guidelines and organizing where content will go.  If you would like to contribute, head over there, create an account, read the editing guidelines, and start editing!

Updated Korean-learning sites

If you go over to WiKorea, you’ll see a bunch of new sites on the Studying Resources page for learning Korean.

WiKorea Update: Google Friend Connect and more

I have updated the wiki to include google connect (the bar you see at the bottom of this page) as part of a integration project I have going on.  I have also edited the index of the wiki so it is more of a main page rather than what it was before.  Since I was updating the index I also decided to add another major area of the wiki: studying resources.  Head over there to see the changes.  Still on the to-do list: new skin.  I think I’m going to create a MediaWiki skin that mirrors this theme’s appearance.

WiKorea Update: Proverbs

Just a quick update, I finished sorting out the proverbs in WiKorea. If you are interested, go over and take a look.

WiKorea Update: New Search Functionality

I’ve been playing around a little with the organization of WiKorea, I think it’s a little better laid out now.

Being the programmer I am, I’ve also been playing around with MediaWiki and have found a way to include links to external search engines like Naver Dictionary in the search results (not the actual results … yet … but you don’t have to type in the word again).  Go ahead and search for something and you’ll see links at the bottom of the results (here is an example search).

I’ve also added a shnazy visual editor for editing pages.  If you’ve ever felt frustrated when editing wiki pages (I was at first) then you’ll love this.  You don’t need to know anything about the wiki format when you edit pages now (and if you do, good!).
